An Extraordinary Adventure for Your School Group

At Wake The Tiger, we want to inspire the next generation of thinkers, creators, and explorers. In collaboration with education specialists, Learning Everywhere (CIC), our self-led education programme, ‘Dreamed Of Being…’, aligns with the National Curriculum and offers activities for Key Stages 1, 2, and 3.

The approach encourages Students to explore the roles of being not doing. Being an Author, Artist, Scientist, or Musician – not doing English, Art, Science or Music.

What’s in the Learning Guide?

Our Being an Author Learning Guide extends the adventure into the classroom, encouraging creativity, reflection, and narrative writing. Designed with Learning Everywhere CIC, it prepares you for your visit, enhances the journey, and offers follow-up activities like creative writing prompts to deepen the experience.

Upon booking your visit, you will be sent a link to the Learning Guide so you can start preparing your visit and getting your students and teams excited.

FAQs

A typical school visit lasts at least two hours, giving students plenty of time to explore the experience at their own pace. Visitors are welcome to go around as many times as they like and are free to stay until we close our doors.

The experience is non-linear, so no one journey has to be the same, which is the beauty of the experience; a true self-exploration of an alternate world.

We do however recognise this is sometimes tricky when trying to organise large groups and have accessibility maps available to help determine meeting points.

There are no limitations to the size of group, other than we allow up to 70 people into the experience per 30 minutes to manage the flow effectively, so if your party is larger than this we would have to stagger your entry.

We offer a number of free places for accompanying adult, that apply to both school and home ed groups. See the ratio split below.

  • Nursery and EYFS: 1 Adult to every 3 children
  • KS1 (Years 1 to 2): 1 Adult to every 6 children
  • KS2 (Years 3):1 Adult to every 6 children
  • KS2 (Years 4-6): 1 Adult to every 10-15 children
  • KS3-KS5 (Years 7 to 13): 1 Adult to every 15-20 children
  • 1 to 1 assistants: Free
  • Additional Accompanying Adults: £9.75 ex.VAT

Please also note Student tickets are only valid for those in higher education (college or above) who hold a valid Student ID card and book themselves via General Admission here. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers, discounts or promotions, including the school discounts mentioned above.

We require a 50% deposit to secure the booking and the remainder to be paid at least one week before arrival. Payment can be made via secure payment link that we send to your chosen email address, or by BACS. Please note that tickets are non-refundable and we require a minimum of 48 hours notice to amend the date and/or time of the booking.

We have a dedicated lunch area for school packed lunches (subject to availability) and only food & drink purchased in the Café may be consumed there (other than baby food or for medical reasons). For the warmer months, Sparke Evans Park is just across the road from Wake The Tiger that can be used for picnics.

We offer a school group information page which can be read and circulated ahead of your arrival so that everyone can have an enjoyable and safe visit.

Our school group offering is also available for home ed groups. Just complete the booking form or you can book direct via the standard general admission booking process.

Please note if you book via the standard general admission booking process, you will not have access to free teacher spaces, and once booked this cannot be retrospectively added, and we do not offer refunds.

A Typical School Trip To Wake The Tiger

Upon arrival, students and group leaders will be warmly welcomed by our staff. Teachers will receive essential information, and students will be briefed on site rules to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit.

The adventure begins as students explore the abandoned paint factory and step into the alternate world of Meridia. With over 40 interactive environments, including the newly opened OUTERverse, the self-guided experience lets students explore at their own pace. Full details on preparing for your visit are in our Learning Guide.

Our team will be available throughout the visit to assist and answer questions. Groups can also take a break in the café, offering snacks, drinks, and a designated space for packed lunches (subject to availability).
