BBC Live Lessons hosted at Wake The Tiger for Safer Internet Day

Bristol, UK – BBC Live Lessons was hosted at Wake The Tiger for a special broadcast on Safer Internet Day. The live event, designed for 7 – 11-year-olds, provided an engaging and educational experience, sparking vital conversations about online safety.
The immersive attraction was transformed into the dynamic backdrop for Scam Smashers, an interactive game show led by presenters Joel Mawhinney and Maddie Moate. The live audience was challenged to outsmart digital tricksters, learning how to protect their personal information and sharpen their detective skills to beat the scammers once and for all. The game was inspired by this year’s Safer Internet Day theme: ‘Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online’.
The broadcast was available live on BBC Teach, BBC iPlayer, and CBBC, ensuring schools and families across the UK could tune in. The lesson remains accessible online as a valuable teaching resource for future use.
For Wake The Tiger, this event was a landmark moment. Since opening, the attraction has sought to offer more than just a space for families and friends to explore a parallel world – it has embraced education as a core part of its mission.
With the support of education specialists Learning Everywhere CIC, Wake The Tiger recently launched its first series of learning guides for Key Stages 1, 2, and 3. The ‘Dreamed of Being…’ series encourages students to focus on the idea of being someone, rather than simply doing something—for example, being an author rather than just doing English.
Wake The Tiger’s vision is to use the power of creativity to inspire a world that works for all. Hosting BBC Live Lessons for Safer Internet Day was a proud and memorable achievement for the entire team, reinforcing their commitment to education.
