Activities for Schools

Dreamed of being....

Is your dream to be an Artist creating amazing spaces for people to enjoy, or perhaps an Author with novels published around the world, or are you going to solve some of the world’s mysteries as a leading Scientist?

Whatever your dream is, Wake The Tiger, the world’s first Amazement Park, can spark your imagination and help set you on your path of discovery.

Want to be...

Wake The Tiger, in collaboration with education specialists, Learning Everywhere (CIC), have created an education programme suited to Key Stage 1, 2 & 3. Whether it be before or after your visit, or you’re not quite ready to bring a group, explore, engage, interact and share the material aligned to the National Curriculum, and see how school groups of all ages can ignite their passion and maximise their potential.

Completed activities can be uploaded here, where we will proudly display the work in our School Gallery, as a platform for sharing, learning and inspiring.

Artists create things, with great skill and imagination.

ACTIVITY: CREATE A NEW SPACE.
  • Immerse yourself
    • Get to know the Wake The Tiger environment.
    • Explore the Wake The Tiger website, in particular ‘The Experience
    • Google ‘shoebox diorama’ for inspiration.
  • Challenge yourself
    • Congratulations! You are Wake the Tiger’s latest team of room designers!
    • Create a shoebox diorama of your proposal. Give it a theme.
    • Fill it with light; with colour; maybe with sound?
    • Wake The Tiger’s rooms often hold secrets. Is there a secret in your room?
  • Celebrate
    • Arrange and display your dioramas to make your own model ‘Amazement Park’.
    • Add caption cards to explain your theme.
    • You could even challenge your ‘visitors’ to find little details.

Authors write stories, poems or other literary work, with great skill and imagination.

ACTIVITY: TELL A STORY.
  • Immerse yourself
    • Get to know the Wake The Tiger environment.
    • Explore the Wake The Tiger website, in particular ‘The Experience
    • Use drama techniques (freeze-framing, role-playing, hot-seating) to explore this amazing
      world.
  • Challenge yourself
    • You are an explorer. Having spent time in Meridia you are now heading home.
    • You are tasked with describing what you’ve seen. You can be creative with how you choose to do this. A diary entry? A non-chronological report? A spoof Trip Advisor style entry?
    • The important thing is that you capture the sights, sounds and experiences of your time spent in Meridia.
  • Celebrate
    • Collect your writing into your own fantastic anthology of Tales From Meridia.

Scientists discover new things and research how they work, with great skill and imagination.

ACTIVITY: RESEARCH THE WORLD OF FUNGA.
  • Immerse yourself
  • Challenge yourself
    • Welcome to your new position as Trainee Mycologist in the Meridia Mycology Team! We need you to help spread the word about the weird and wonderful world of fungi.
      • What are they?
      • How many varieties are there?
      • How are they useful?
      • What other mind-blowing facts about them can you dig up?
    • Think about how you can share your discoveries so that everyone can learn just what amazing organisms they are. You might design an infographic, write a scientific journal, draw and annotate pictures or even grow your own fungi in class.
  • Celebrate
    • Display your work in school. Create film clips / slideshows of you presenting your findings. Do it in role, as Meridia Mycologists. If you’re feeling ambitious, you could make a TED talk!
